"Arriondas" in Spanish; "Les Arriondes" in Asturian, a disappearing language, but there are recent efforts to keep Asturian alive.
Arriondas is not a touristy town by any stretch of the imagination. It is a town in the eastern part of Asturias and is a vital part of the surrounding rural area. Arriondas is 12 km south of the Bay of Biscay, one hour east of Oviedo and about 20 minutes west of the foot of the Picos de Europa. |

| | Being the closest town to our inn, Arriondas was the town in which we spent most of our time during our stay in Asturias. It really ended up being a very good base for all our activities. Arriondas has a train station, bus station, a couple of excellent restaurants, a fabulous bakery, several very active sidrerias, and a couple of outdoor companies who coordinate canoeing, horseback riding, 4-wheeling (quads) and mountain biking. |

| Pros: | "This is the heart of Asturias, picturesque, a good slice of local culture" | | Cons: | "Located in a valley, so fog would move in overnight - usually gone by midmorning" | | In A Nutshell: | "A lot more to Arriondas than first met the eye." |
