A short introduction The urge to travel has always been very much a part of me but for many years was denied. In 2001 I experienced some major life changes and after waiting for many, many years, this urge is finally being addressed. Since that time, I have relocated seven times, usually living each place for a few months. Most of those moves (but not all, see my St.John page) were around the U.S. I have traveled across the country by car twice in that time, visiting as many National Parks as I could fit in. The most recent cross country trip was July/August 2004. The natural beauty on the American Paciic northwest will always hold a special place in my heart.... but in order to preserve some sense of balance , that is, enjoying the natural world then experiencing something that is the total antithesis of that, the last planned stop of that road trip was to none other than Sturgis, South Dakota... during bike week! From one extreme to the other......the pristine Oregon coastline to the roar of thousands of Harley-Davidsons rumbling down the main street (and every side street and every highway for miles around, and every little nearby village... you get the picture)! Wow! That one word sums it up. Now as a rule, I will seek out those quiet places, those where the masterful work of nature is sharing with us it's finest efforts, but as evidenced by this story, there is also in me a bit of wild streak. The stop in Sturgis was a nice compliment to a trip that was otherwise weeks of national parks. My friends couldn't believe what I had done, especially considering that I travel solo most of the time.
Having arrived in Sydney September 04, it's difficult to grasp that nearly a year has passed already. My visa is about to expire and it's time to go back to the US. But note the absence of the word "home". The plans are to come back to Australia in a few months for an extended stay. Seems I have fallen in love with the place...the people, the culture, the fabulous weather, the list goes on. For those who are part of my life that have been to Australia, well......they understand. The others....I hope that they can make their way here one day, then hopefuly they too will understand what an extraordinary place this is.
Anyway...that's a bit about me. Hoping that you enjoy your visit to my pages. Thanks for stopping by.
