Do your Homework....
I would advise anyone who plans to go Maldives to really do their research. With nearly 90 resorts to choose from, it can be a headache.
I did mine like a year before, I check on every detail that I can think of.The reason I am telling you this is because I often come across question asking 'which is the best resort?' and I don't think anyone can answer that. Nearly everyone who have een to Maldives will tell you that they enjoyed their stay very much and came back with wonderful memories. So, the best is to know what you want from the island, your budget, the distance from the airport, fullboard or all inclusive, pool or no pool... etc.. etc. check out their websites, the reviews until you narrow it down to a few, then starts asking questions... Good lUck
On The Island.....
I dont know how to start telling you about Maldives. It is just too beautiful for words. If I am a painter, I would love to paint it, if I am a poet, I would write poems about it.. the best I can do is try to capture the beauty of it on my camera... You just have to be there! The perfect beach, perfect water, perfect sunrise, perfect sunset, perfect blue clouds, perfect stars in the sky...
I am lucky to be able to see the beauty of Maldives from 9th June to 16th June 2006. After much researching, I chose Fiha Lhohi as the island to spend my 7 days on. As my flight is at night and the island is quite far out, about 45 mins by speedboat, I had to spend the night at HulHule Hotel, just near the airport.
We had to stay in the suite room as Maldives hotels have a weird policy that you can only have 2 adult and 1 child in a room, I guess its just to get more money out of us, the tourist!
After breakfast, we were transferred to Fiha Lhohi and were greeted warmly at the jetty and welcomed with coconut drinks, what else!
I chose to stay at the comfort room on full board basis, and was given room 76, porter brought the bags to our room, they had to carry the bags on their head or shoulders, pls prepare tips for these poor workers, some of them as old as my grandfather.
Please note that everything in Maldives are in US$ and if you are on fullboard basis that means that you are provided breakfast, lunch and dinner, not drinking water, only coffee and tea. You can buy drinking water at about US$3 per bottle, which definitely would add up a lot if you have 4 members, or you can do the crazy thing I did, I brought enough drinking for the 6 days I was there! Money you saved can go to the workers there, which really deserves the tip.
- Pros:Picture perfect
- Cons:You wont want to leave .....
- In a nutshell:An expensive Paradise

Sure, we have lot to learn from children! I shallcome back for more, not finished yet.
So creative spirits. I like it (~_~)
Nice flowers and very nice beaches.
Great page of Maldives. Wish I knew when you were there. Would love a postcard from there :) Watchng crabs at nite is fun... besides swimming with the sharks in Maldives.
wah... so nice. I wish I could go Maldives one day. Great tips Faridah.
I wanted to say how much I agree with your comment about the kids. No wonder they change though, being a child is so confusing, the first few years we try to get them to talk & walk, then the next few years we are telling them to shut up & sit down.
Mmmmm, lovely Maldives pics!! I'm envious. :)
You must have enjoyed your Maldives trip. Me too. Cheers!
I loved your beautiful photos i loved great wall of china in sand! & the bat! The bit about how we can learn from children despite not being able to converse due to language - no barrier, colour, race prevented them enjoying themselves Jane
I was looking for info on the Maldives and fihalhohi because we may go there in september and found your pages. Great info! Thanks for sharing! Corinne
