Budapest Transportation

Transportation: Taxi's that don't rip you off
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: The taxi's you hail will rob you blind ,it's better to ring one. City Taxi's were always reliable ,phone 211211 and say " Angol" for an english speaking operator. Don't say a destination if calling from a landline because they'll know where your calling from and keep your details on record.

    Transportation: Airport Cabs
  • Tip Rating:
  • 'Mode': TO
    Category: Other
Getting TO/AROUND: The airport taxi's as in many places can't be trusted so go to the airport taxi desk and tell them your destination.
The driver will come and find you and take you in a mini-bus with loads of other people to your destination and you can also sort out your return ( if you come back ) for about 3000 forints there and back.

  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Subway/Metro
Getting TO/AROUND: It's a big place so the best way to get around is to get a travel pass. This lets you use the trams ,metro, buses ,and HEV in the city.
You need a passport photo and about 3000 forints for a thirty day one. The best place to pick one up is the ticket office at Nyugati station metro station ( they speak English )

Great tips on the bar scene there. Probably not what I'd need, but you never know, especially about the local beers. Köszönöm! Szia!

The Moscow Square (Moszkva tér) is not that bad because there is an OK shopping mall nearby and a pretty good UNDERGROUND game retaurant (St. Jupát).
