Prague's an interesting place, entirely populated by German tourists and americans trying to be Bohemian or write their first novel. There are Czech people there but i think their hiding,. increasingly far from the city centre itself.
Prague is an exercise in how millions of tourists can squeeze the soul out of a place leaving nothing but sex shows ,tourist rip offs and copycat American bars. I mean why does everyone try to make everything look like a bloody steakhouse.
There's hope with the Roxy Club and Bar l'chateau which are agreeably seedy and a few dives and basement cafe's in Mala Strana ,but apart from that the town centres as sterile as Disneyland.
- Pros:The place ,the buildings , the beer
- Cons:Central European Disneyland
- In a nutshell:Nice buildings, ugly hookers.

I really enjoyed your very honest and funny comments about sightseeing in Prague. I definitely will warn my husband about the lady in the plastic jacket. Our trip to Prague is this coming November, I hear we are staying in a "tourist warehouse"
Great personal view of Praha. Glad you enjoyed the Zizkov Tower - of course tourists should not go there (cos then you couldn't get away from them). And that why I enjoyed hln - local colour, heh

I agree with you about the Prague train station, in all of our travels this is where my wife and I really felt ill at ease!! The city needs to clean up this eyesore and make it more welcoming because Prague is a very clean and safe place. Matt
Had the same problems with the prostitutes. They just wouldn't leave me alone. In my opinion the worst thing was the drunk englishmen on stag nights. ***ing shame.
I read your page several months ago before I went to Prague. You make many valid points. I wanted to go to the Petrin Tower but never got up there. Your page is more interesting now after I have returned.
