Gorgeous Gozo! A little island in the sun, concentrated with a fascinating history, rich with crafts, culture and colour, an island of charm and joy.
In Maltese, Gozo is called "Ghawdex" is a derivation of ther older names such as Gaulos.Gozo is popularly called The Island of Calypso, that is a nickname originating from the Greek mythological location of Ogygia referred to in Homer's Odyssey. In this epic poem, the fabled island was controlled by the nymph Calypso, who had detained the Greek hero Odysseus for seven long years as prisoner of love.
This is one typical step street in Gozo's capital Victoria which has within it the Citadel ramparts. Unique and very old, older than most of Mdina itself, the Citadel has been cleaned up and restored only recently to its former days of glory and beauty - it is now a tourist attraction with the Cathedral dedicated to Santa Maria at its very core. Most of the Citadel dates to about the 14th century and later dates.
Whenever you look, the sea is always within the reach of the eyes. In fact, Gozo has an amazing coastline with its tiny creeks, sand beaches, blue sea, majestic rock formations and protruding watchtowers.

Che bel posto... Pero' adesso deve fare ancora piu' caldo che qua in Germania, quindi non vorrei esserci. Magari nei mesi piu' freschi... Non sapevo esistesse Cominotto, oltre a Comino. Grazie per avermelo insegnato!
