Don't miss it! It's also walking distance to St. Patrick's Cathedral, NBC studios, Park Avenue shopping and the Empire State Building. Uptown is filled with marvelous energy. Fantastic area of the city. You can also go ice skating in winter if the mood strikes you. Beautiful at night at Christmas time.

When you visit New York City you must see the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Really a gem of a museum. A Collection that is incredible. Their Egyptian Exhibit alone could take all day long to view. I love their medieval wing, and their American arts and crafts department is lovely. Their costume department is very interesting. (check out the manaquin, the model for the face was Christie Turlington) The museum always has special exhibitions that are very interesting and well curated. Fabulous paintings, sculture and items from antquity fill this museum. Not to be missed! Wonderfully decorated at Christmas time. Good book store as well.

Walk through the park and find hidden treasures and fabulous views of the city. The park is filled with sculptures, lakes. ponds, pretty grassy fields and interesting places to explore. Stop by the Central Park zoo, it's very interesting and has been a landmark for years. If you're short on time, catch a carriage ride in front of the plaza hotel in uptown, and take in the park's lovely scenery that way. Very festive and romantic at night.

Chinatown is located in lower Manhattan and is near SoHo and Little Italy. It is a fascinating neighborhood filled with old world tradition. The streets are filled with mysterious restaurants, seafood markets, souvenir shops, and asian delis. The area is designed with lots of asian inspried architecture, colorufl decor, and neon signs. The shops and restaurants tend to flow onto the street. I always feel like I'm on a movie set when I'm in Chinatown. One of my favorite places to visit in the city. Food tip: Step into one of the many chilnese delis and ask for sticky sweet rice cakes. They are white, cut in squares, soft, and gooey. I'm addicted to them, and have to buy them by the boxload when I'm in New York.

Britboy71 Sun Feb 22, 2009 03:17 UTC "Nothing comes close"???? Obviously you haven't travelled much, this is probably one of the worst toy stores there is. Poor selection, bad service and inflated prices. My advice shop outside of NYC for toys. | irishgalmtl Fri Sep 8, 2006 06:24 UTC thank you for your NY tips & things to I'm going there soon and hope to put it to use....Donna | whitecliff62 Thu Jun 16, 2005 18:45 UTC Superb N.Y page, hope to take a trip there next nov for the very first time, best wishes Cliff | mrclay2000 Tue Apr 19, 2005 23:11 UTC Chinatown was also one of my favorites. I wish I had reconsidered South St Seaport for my night photos . . . I left without getting the ones I wanted. |
