Try to stay away from the Oakland BART station at night. It's very deserted, I mean no one around. I felt very vulnerable at 8:30 at night coming back from Berkley. On Sunday's there are no direct trains from Berkley to San Francisco, so you have to transfer at the Oakland or McCarthur station. the Oakland station did not feel safe at night. The area around the Powell BART Station also felt very precarious at best at nightime.
