48 Hours in San Francisco

by pigletsmom - last update: May 13, 2004

So much to do and see, I really love this city!

The Golden Gate Bridge
I just spent 48 hours in San Francisco, and fortunately you can see a lot in just 2 short days.
The BART system is incredible, plus a great bus system, taxis, and the cable cars. As you can see by the photo above I had absolutely perfect weather. It can get chilly at night, so come prepared. Some of my must see tips came from past visits. I was able to see about 6 points of interest in two days. If you plan ahead you can see a lot because attractions are typcially very close together and within walking distance of each other.
A cable car on Powel Street.

Cable Cars

Unique, historic and very enjoyable to ride! A must for first time visitors. Really great fun and extremely functional to help you get around the city.

Fabulous Architecture Everywhere

San Francisco is famous for Victorian houses, but there are plenty of other styles to see in the city. Art Deco, mission, spanish and period revival to name a few. Pacific Heghts is a must if you want to check out some fabulous Victorian row houses. The revival mansions around the Palace of Fine Arts are equally impressive.
