City Hall is an old building with a high steeple. The front of the building says museam, but do not think this is an ordinary museam with artifacts and things, it is really a very boring arts museam, the real museam is over the bridge. You can pay to go up to the bell tower, where you get a very good view of the city, though the day I was in Brisbane it was free for some reason. You ride an elevator like the ones you see in the movies, those old ones with a bored looking bellhop and a sliding cage sort of door. The ride is really quite fun and when you get to the top you can walk around and look out over the city through glass windows. Giant bells above you peal out the time every so often (half hour maybe?). A good place to go for a nice view of the city, even if it is of mostly sky scrapers.

Roma Street Parklands were built in 2001, so doesnt have that old, dirty look of the rest of the brisbane city centre. Originally the land was used for train yards, which have been transformed into landscaped subtropical gardens. There is an area called fern gully, a nice cool place with giant ferns and artificial mist to shelter from the humid weather, another area with waterfalls and streams and even a lookout. There are also abundant flowers in interesting designs and displays and a good view of the city. There are grassy areas to lie in, especially if you have been on a plane all night and hadnt slept, like I had, but beware the big bullants! A very nice place to visit, considering the park is not that big.

The array of flowers at the gardens is worth its own section. I went there in december, and there was a myriad of flowers planted, sections for flower colours, a section for aromatic plants, it was truly wonderful.
