Kensington Market: Mmm...pastries
  • Tip Rating:
  • Eat anything from the My Market Bakery. "Yummy sweet treats", as my girlfriend likes to say. The almond croissants are pretty damn good.

  • The view is pretty damn good, and its fun for someone who lives in Toronto to point out where they live, but it may not be worth it for a casual visitor, as the cost and line-ups can be a bummer. The glass floors are fun for kids, but not really scary when you get there. Go at night. Its probably quieter, and more unique with the skyline lit up.

CN Tower: CN Tower Cheaper With ISIC
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Yup. They don't advertise it, but if you show an ISIC Card when you buy your admission, you get about five bucks off.

  • I'm a season ticket holiday with the Bluejays, seeing I'm currently living in Toronto. The Skydome is an awesome stadium. I'd truly reccommend it. My tip is to buy the $9 seats, which are for the very top of the top level. No one checks tickets up there, and its always easy to find an empty seat nearer to the action after the third inning or so.

Alternatively, the same $9 allows you to stand behind homeplate or anywhere on the ground level of the stadium.

Go to the team website to purchase tickets in advance of your trip: www.bluejays.com

    Kensington Market: My home!
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • I live in Kensington and its a great place to wander around. I feel like the whole world is on my doorstep.

The Japanese place on Augusta does a great bento box, big fat burrito do killer wraps, and Akram's do the best falafels I've come across. Jamaican doubles at the bakery on the South of Baldwin remind me of a chickpea curry in a big spongy bread, and go down Kensington to check out the Organic Ice Cream shop and its friendly owner.

A massive array of produce shops hawk every conceivable ingredient, so its a good place to go if you want to cook up your own food, or even assemble a picnic.

Vintage clothes shops abound, and are consistently popular with Toronto's fashionistas who prefer not to spend $500 on a handbag.

Like the beer joke! Ah, My Market Bakery, I liked the bagels. Been there just this summer, must try the winter by the sounds of it.

Some great Toronto tips. Hope you and your fiancee can join us Sept 23-25th weekend for the VT Meeting. Great way to meet some new folks, from the area and from further afield. Let Laura (hayward68) or myself know if you can join us.
