Surprisingly nice!

Looking towards Fuengirola Centre from Balcony
We were getting close to 'burn out' point, and so needed to grab a few days away in the sun, to do nothing.

We knew the weather would be pleasant in Southern Spain, and so booked 3 nights at a nearly new hotel just outside Fuengirola.

This holiday surprised me, and we had a fantastic, relaxing time - albeit too short (but holidays always are aren't they?).

Expecting to see a surge of bucket and spade Brit Brigades, we were pleasantly surprised to be surrounded mainly by Spanish guest in the hotel . We put this down to the fact that it was early on in the season (29th April - 2nd May). It's possible that in the summer months the hotel could have alot more of the holiday maker crowd, and Fuengirola definately will.

There is the usual type of seafront parade of shops, restaurant and bars in Fuengirola. Including the infamous restaurants we try to avoid at all costs, with pictures of the food outside, such as egg and chips, sausage and chips, gammon and chips, (you get the idea!) for the homesick Brits amongst you.

However, delve a little deeper away from the seafront, and a whole new world opens with pleasant Meditteranean restaurants lining the side streets with outside seating, pleasant surroundings, and some particularly well furnished.

I would recommend this area to all - couples (off peak though if the Brit Brigade isn't your thing), families all year, and also groups of people. In my opinion theres something for everyone.

Pros:"Great for all at certain time of the year"
Cons:"Possibly too many Brits in the Summer!"
In A Nutshell:"Better than expected - great for a typical Med holiday"

Stayed in the Castle Beach Aparthotel near here a couple of years ago when it was nearly new. Nice relaxing hotel and as you say located in a more refined suburb of Fuengirola.
