A very jolly and informal open air restaurant/ bar with good service. Clear and colorful with a breezy ambience, its a relaxed place to come for lunch or evening drinks.
    Excellent people watching venue too.
A good place to start if you want to make new friends and meet warm and hospitable people.

    Also do deliveries.

Favorite Dish: The fruit juices & milshakes are wonderful in the shade on on hot day. See especially the morir soñando (Die Dreaming), a gorgeous orange milkshake with lime and sugar.

Snack food like cuban sandwiches and burgers are cheap and filling. Also a varied menu of full meals.

La Choza is another ambitious project of the Leyasú owner. It is nicely layed out in the style of a openair Taino reservation, with several family sized thatched roof huts surrounding the larger central restaurant.

The food includes freshly cooked Dominican fare as well as a large array of international food. Also has a well stocked licensed bar.

The arching itimacy of the roofs means you only catch a glimpse of the lower half of arriving guests and the scurrying waiters, which makes for mischevous fun.

Favorite Dish: One good way of sampling local cuisine is to choose you own combination from the display by the chefs area. There are invariably dishes like spit roast pork, goat stew or picapollo to accompany the creole staples of rice, beans and plantains. Very filling, cheap, satifsying grub.

Address: Av. Cirunvalacion in Barrio de los Gringos
Directions: Head out of town on Avenida Circunvalacion towards the Falconbridge Golf Club and the road to Los Quemados. La Choza lies on the right as you head up this read in an area the locals call Barrio de los Gringos

Owned and ran by Sra. Soledad Madera, this small family run restaurant serves cheap and tasty local food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The ambience is very friendly and laid back, and the restaurant itself is spotless.

Favorite Dish: D'Madera has variety of tasty and filling Dominican recipes such as Mondongo, Mofongo, Mangu, la bandera Dominicana, picapollo, chicharrones etc etc. The fixed plato del dia is the cheapest option.

I can recommend the Fish Soup which was delicious.

A spotless pie shop with a long alluring cabinet of treats peaking out at passersby.

Its long opening hours and frequent long queues are a clue to its popularity.

The pies are oven baked rather than the ubiquitous Dominican obsession with Deep Frying.

Absolutely delicious. One could spend hours here getting gordo.
