I love Stockholm. It is not as cosmopolitan as say, London or Copenhagen and neither is it as over developed as my own Kuala Lumpur but it has a charm and a quality of life that I find fascinating.
Stockholmers wherever they live often have access to the water life, greenery (and I don't mean scrawny trees on the street, I mean a real forest or park), recreational activities and a big city life bursting with colour and life.
The picture was taken from Fj?llgatan on May 22 at 8pm. Great place to sit at the outdoor cafes and enjoy the view
The well-preserved wooden houses from the 1700s on Stigbergsgatan are currently being used by artists and writers with special permission by the Government. It is a wonderful place for pictures and to take a moment to envision how Stockholm was in the old days.
Apart from the great view, the wonderful old houses you can round off the walk with a really good vegetarian dinner/lunch buffet. It's one of those value- for- money things that you simply can't refuse in expensive Stockholm!. Check their website -http://www.hermans.se for directions, menu and price. Now to get to the streets above and to the restaurant you take the green line (train) down to Slussen. A good walking map will guide you to the streets. Or check www.eniro.se online.
- Pros:Good public transport, lots to see and do. lovely access to nature, water and sights.
- Cons:Downside is its expensive.
- In a nutshell:Worth a visit for sure.
