My friends and I planned our first Bali trip without knowing that 12 Oct 2004 was the second anniversary if Bali bombing.
I was looking forward to it when I get to know from the our driver who picked us up from the airport that the main road, Jalan Legian would be closed to traffic on the following day for some sort of ceremony. It was the highlight of my trip this time amidst the temple hopping and sunset viewing trip.
We arrived in Bali without an itinerary but I did check some VT travel pages for some tips and guide before the trip. We made up our itinerary as we went along. |

| Candlelight Vigil @ Human Tragedy Monument |
| | I am glad that I learnt something during this trip especially at the Human Tragedy Monument during the daytime ceremony and candlelight vigil. The second anniversary of Bali Bombing ceremonies provided me a chance to reflect upon the philosophical values and wisdom we all can take from the tragedy. It saddened me very much to see the suffering of the family and friends of the victims. I don’t understand why must we hate each other and kill each other when there is so much we can do to make the world a better place to live in. I prayed for a better place and a peaceful world for all of us.
I enjoyed my Bali trip very much; enough for me for make another plan to come back in the coming year. I missed a lot of activities like kecak dance, spa and sunset yoga due to time constraint. Next time, I will ensure a longer stay and a more relaxing trip as I had already done the touristy stuff like temple hopping and monkeys visiting this time around. I haven’t buy a Bali t-shirt yet…So this is not the end as I cannot say that I have been there, done that and bought the T-shirt, hahaha. |
