"Njegusi" a Njegusi Travel Page by grkboiler

Njegusi, a small village on Mt. Lovcen between Kotor and Cetinje, is famous for 2 things:

1) It is the birthplace of Petar II Petrovic Njegos (1813-1851), a famous writer and the most impressive ruler/bishop of Montenegro who reconciled Montenegrin tribes, established a senate, courts, and executive branch of government, started tax collection, built roads, built the 1st school in Montenegro, and strengthened the borders

2) ham

We stopped by for a quick ham and cheese sandwich to try the famous smoked ham (it was great!) and met some of the most hospitable people in the world.
