Londoner on a bench
London is one of those few unique cities that has the ability to get anyone attached to it. It might not be love at first sight (or love at any sight - its definitely not the most scenic city out there) but its easy to enjoy yourself and its tough to leave.

I made the trip on a spur-of-the-moment decision. My friend called me up one day saying his friend was going to London for the weekend to visit a highschool friend and had invited him. Then followed a chain reaction. 4 of us ended up there on 3 different flights on a few days notice. Throw in a couple more friends who live there, and this makes a busy weekend. (I also have some cousins living there but I haven't met them yet)

We saw the sights, drank a little too much beer, had plenty of laughs, and spent even more money. It was 4 crazy days that were so long I didn't think I would ever get any sleep.

For me, what makes London so attractive to visit isn't its tourist attractions or scenery, but the people. I ran into some interesting people along the way - all of them living in London but not all of them natives of the city.

Visiting with these people over a few beers at some great pubs made for the best times on my trip.

London is definitely worth a visit. There is plenty to keep you busy. Just bring a good pair of walking shoes, lots of money, and don't forget to mind the gap.

Ancient History

London was founded by the Romans in AD 43 as Londinium and was an important city of their time. It had a peak population of 50,000. They inhabited London for nearly 400 years.

Some remnants of old Roman walls can still be found in London.

I stayed at the London Lodge during 8/21/08 to 9/9/08. The 1st week: 85 pounds/week, 2nd & 3rd week was 50 pounds/week.A VERY GOOD deal, I don't think you can get a better price than this in London Central. The guy at the reception name is John.
