One thing about Darwin - hot and humid! I only got to spend one day here. I stayed at the Value Inn for one night, and after my camping trip, I had to search for hours for a hotel and ended up at the Holiday Inn (there was an Olivia Newton John concert and the entire city was booked). After spending 3 days in the bush, the Holiday Inn was like a royal palace. There are also a number of backpacker's hostels and a good selection of hotels.
I did some walking at Bicentennial Park off the Esplanade near the sea and there are some monuments and displays about the history of Darwin.
If you want to eat, there is a good Mexican restaurant called Coyote's Cantina.
Another thing about Darwin is it has plenty of bars. The Victoria Hotel (The Vic) was the one I liked best. Good food, beer, and games. |
