Getting TO/AROUND: Taxis Afloat provide transportation around the Harbour and can take you on a good tour. It is a good quick way to get from one point of the harbour to another. Our pilot took us on a quick harbour cruise from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour, underneath the Harbour Bridge, around the Opera House, Mrs. Macquarie's Point, Woolloomooloo Bay, and showed us Australian media mogul Kerry Packer's yacht, Nicole Kidman's home, and the Australian Navy. You can call the number and they will have a boat to pick you up within minutes. Ask about fares when you call.

Getting TO/AROUND: Taxis are very easy to find all over Sydney. If you need a taxi to pick you up and you don't feel like searching, call the number below for Taxis Combined, which is one of Sydney's biggest taxi companies.

Getting TO/AROUND: The train is one of the best and easiest ways to get around in Sydney. If you are not in Sydney, you can get into the city from as far north as Newcastle to as far south as Wollongong, and west from the Blue Mountains. The train also has stops at the airport at both domestic and international terminals. If the train doesn't get you exactly where you want to go, when you get off the train you can probably take a short walk or a bus to your destination. Sydney's rail system is clean and safe. It is very easy to get anywhere by looking at a map or asking at a station. I found the employees to be very helpful. While in the city limits, you will most likely use Central Station to change lines. If you will be in Sydney for a week, I would recommend a 7-day Rail Pass for unlimited use of the train for 1 week. They are a great bargain at AU$22 for adults and $11 for children and students. Check the website for timetables and fares.

Getting TO/AROUND: Sydney has a very good bus system. It is slower than the trains, but it will get you around at a decent price. I still think the trains are much better, but if you go to certain places like Bondi, you will eventually have to get on a bus, so it is good to know a little about them. Check the website for timetables and fares.

Getting TO/AROUND: Sydney Ferries are a great, inexpensive, and scenic way to get around the city. All ferries leave from Circular Quay and can take you to places like Darling Harbour, Parramatta, and Manly. You should take a ferry ride at least once if you are visiting Sydney. Otherwise, I think the train is the best way to get around.

Getting TO/AROUND: The monorail is way to get to and around Darling Harbour. You can catch it at the city centre and it has a few stops at Darling Harbour. It runs from 7 AM to 10 PM (midnight on weekends). Trains come around every 3-5 minutes. It costs AU$4 for a one way ride or a ride of the entire loop, or $9 for a day pass. To me, it is a waste. If you are going to use the monorail, I would only use it to get TO Darling Harbour from the city centre. I would only ride it once just to get the experience of using it. Its just as easy to get around on foot.

Getting TO/AROUND: Sydney Airport is easy to use. It serves many Australian cities and many international cities. It is only a short ride into the city and taxis and buses are readily available. The CityRail system also connects to the airport.
