Busiest part is around the jetty.

Getting there:
From Singapore's Changi Jetty, take a bumboat to this island. S$2 per direction. Additional S$2 per bicycle.

It's like backward Singapore, dating way back before 1970s. There are more mosquitoes than humans on the island so bring sufficient insect repellant!

A Must See!
Trees with breathing aerial roots line the shoreline. Mudskippers (half fish half amphibian) are everywhere. If you're lucky, there are starfish, hermit crabs, crabs, fish and anemones. A diver's experience without the oxy tank and diving gear!

Settlements on Pulau Ubin

Houses called "kampungs" are found off tracks and roads. Sometimes solitary sometimes in clusters. Most are dull-coloured like ones in this photo. Occasionally you'll find well-decorated ones with pretty fences.

Pros:Educational, a haven for outdoor enthusiasts
Cons:Not totally civilized, not recommended for those who are likely to get lost
In a nutshell:Clean crisp air, slow pace of life, plenty of exercise

Hi, Thanks for your comment on my White Island page. Nice page of Pulau Ubin, which we visitred during our visit to Singapore. Quite a difference from the hustle and bustle in the city. Jaap
