Snorkelling / Diving: Great! Some of the world's most exotic marine life can be found in abundance here. Water is clear as crystal too!

Shopping: Limited variety, cannot compare to Bangkok etc. Most shops open around 1pm and shut at 11pm.

Nightlife: Active, with lots of pubs and clubs. But they seem to close early.

Dining: Authentic Thai food bit difficult to find in Ao Nang other than at streetside pushcarts. Most cafes offer Western or Euro fare.

Spa / Massage: plenty of them around.

Accommodation: Too many to choose from!

People: 80-90% foreigners (mostly Westerners), doesn't seem like Thailand! Many Caucasians settle here to run diving schools.

Scenery: Like paradise around the beach. Strange looking islands offshore. There's even the Chicken Island!

What kind of marine life? I don't know what they're called but parrotfish, surgeonfish and various tangs can be found even while snorkelling, like the one pictured.

It'd be good to have a waterproof flashlight as there are semi-submerged caves around the islands to explore.
