"The former Southern capital of China" Nanjing by mke1963

Nanjing is a lovely city on the lower Yangtze, and the capital of Jiangsu provice, one of the ealthier Chinese provinces.
It is a relaxing city, with plenty to see, but lacks any really big sites to attract foreign tourists. Those that do come, leave with good impressions and a fondness for the place.
Nanjing has a superb museum, and has some great walks in the hills to the east of the city.
The city walls are the most extensive in the world, and future generations of Nanjing will be thankful that this heritage has survived.
I don't feel it is a city of great nightlife and restaurants, but it is pleasant, and a good hub for trips into Jiangsu.
