The flip side of Shanghai

by mke1963 - last update: Jan 28, 2005

Shanghai is well covered by Virtual Tourist members and I am not sure whether I can add 'value' here. I visit regularly (every couple of weeks) but mainly see a very small area of the centre of the city.
Hopefully I can describe some of the less visited places andf try to offer something a bit different!

More information on the web

There are a lot of websites with more information about Shanghai, but the best seems to be the government portal.

Click on the sections in Travel and then use the additional links to come up with very comprehensive listing of sites, etc. Each site has quite a good description.

The many commercial and expat sites have generally poor coverage of the sites other than a cursory mention and often a picture. Design is more important than content in China!

Pros:"Buzz, drive, energy, get-up-and-go"
Cons:"Sit still and you will be demolished"
In A Nutshell:"Endless energy: like Hong Kong on speed"
