Brisbane is a wonderful city, which manages to mix its heritage with its modern image seamlessly and gracefully. I have visited few cities in recent years that have such a cosmopolitan feel. Many cities with a strong international flavour can feel unfrendly, but Brisbane was a cheerful place quite at ease with its influx of foreign holidaymakers and foreigners intent on staying a lot longer. Brisbane feels larger than it is, and the distances on foot can be long, but an excellent bus and city-rail system make it easy to get around. Brisbane certainly has "got it" whatever "it" might be. |

tiabunna Thu Feb 1, 2007 22:39 UTC Your have summarised the "feel" of Brisbane very well, Mark. I agree, those big "corporate" hotel chains tend to lack individuality. | Purpleshade Sun Feb 5, 2006 04:15 UTC Just the sort of info I like in your hotel tips. Lesley |
