Monte Carlo Resort & Casino: Your basic stop Monte Carlo Resort And Casino Review

The price was right, it was my first time visiting Vegas, I didn't know any better!!!

Maybe it's just me, but I was a bit underwhelmed by the basic trappings of my room. When you enter the hotel you are in a grand lobby with innumerable check-in locations lining what seems to be a football field length counter. Just past the elevators is the casino, and around the corner you reach the shops and restaurants. All you see when you enter the hotel is glitz and glam, but open the door to your room and "Hello!" you're at a business hotel along some highway tripping over the double/double beds. Ish!

The spa was minimalist, we went to Mandalay Bay's spa instead. Luxurious!!

Unique Qualities: Oh, the view we had! Look at my picture....

What you can't see is the gigantic 3' flood lights lining the roof over the casino. These beauties are aimed at the side of the building, presumably to illuminate it at night. I'm not sure why they need to illuminate my 3rd floor window which can not be seen from anywhere along the strip. They could have masked the lights so they only lit up those areas visible from the strip.

Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort: Nice Resort in Henderson

This is a very large and sprawling facility complete with multiple restaurants & lounges, spa, casino, fitness center, lakeside activities, 2 golf courses and meeting/banquet facilities.

The resort was featured in the movie "America's Sweethearts," starring John Cusak, Julia Roberts, Catherine Zeta Jones and Billy Crystal. Unfortunately, much of what was in the film was based on the private "Casbah" villas, so other than the palm tree lined drive not much was recognizable.

Being WAY off the strip (15 miles,) the casino staff was friendly and helpful .

Unique Qualities: The area is rocky and hilly. The golf courses are very challenging, the greens are firm and difficult to hold. I visited in early March, the weather was still cool at the time so there were not many guests, which kept the golf game moving swiftly.
