"Best hotel value in the world" and other Las Vegas, NV Hotel/Accommodation Reviews

During a night tour through the city of Las Vegas we visited The Rio. It's situated just outside The Strip . At that moment we didn't know it was voted "Best hotel value in the world" and "Best overall hotel in Las Vegas".

Unique Qualities: To be honest, our interest didn't go out to these prizes won by the hotel. What we liked was the fact that the all glass walls of the building afforded us beautiful views of The Strip. Especially at night it's great to see all the neon lights and the shows played at The Strip.

At 1,149 feet, the Stratosphere Tower is the tallest freestanding observation tower in the United States and the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. The Stratosphere Hotel and Casino opened in 1996 with 1500 rooms.

Unique Qualities: Thrill seekers can enjoy excitement over 100 stories above the ground on the Big Shot thrill ride and the High Roller roller coaster, which is the world highest roller coaster as it takes riders around the outside of the pod. With 32 degree angles the High Roller literally takes riders over the edge.

The Strip is very competitive and one only has to look down the street at night to see this. Each property has to not only keep up with the others, but to also attract and keep their visitors. All of this takes nerve, imagination and creativity. The Venetian was, according to us, one of the best casinos to achieve this.

Unique Qualities: Inspired by the splender of Italys most romantic city, the Venetian offers a lot under one roof. Its front outside, which recreates most of the top landmarks in Venice (the 315-foot high Camponile Tower, St. Marks Square and Rialto Bridge) is a must see. The attention to detail is impressive, even the security guards wear Venetian police uniforms.
