  • When we were walking in San Francisco we saw "Levi Plaza" on the map. We didn't know what it was, but went there anyway. We found out it was a small park on both sides of Battery Street. It's a beautiful little park.

When you are in Levi Plaza you won't notice that you are in a huge city. A great place to relax.

  • Twin Peaks is a pair of hills offering the best views of San Francisco. Mount Davidson, at 940 feet, is the City's highest point and is located south of Twin Peaks.

Both are accessible by car and offer stunning views beyond the City to the Golden Gate and to the East Bay.

  • Located in the Russian Hill district, Lombard Street is known as "the crookedest street in the world" because of its eight sharp turns. The turns, known as switchbacks, were built in the 1920s to allow traffic to descend the steep incline.

The street zigzags around beautiful flowers and offers a nice view of the bay. There are stairways (without curves) on either side of the street for pedestrians.

  • Van Ness Avenue, the widest street in the City, is home to San Francisco's city government.

The gold-domed City Hall was modeled after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Across the street is the Performing Arts Center comprised of the newly renovated War Memorial Opera House, the Veterans Building, Herbst Theater and Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall.

  • The China Town in San Francisco is squeezed in between The Financial District and North Beach.

They say it's the largest Chinese community outside of Asia. We noticed that this was a quick trip to Hong Kong's present and past.

  • We started our walk through China Town on Stockton Street. We simply loved what we saw there. It was a varied mixture of exotic colours, flavours and noises. We thought that we were the only "not Chinese people" around. There were a lot of nice eating-places, marketstalls, grocer's shops, cafe houses and a countless number of alleys to get lost in.

Sometimes it was a bit of a shock to us as the smells of garbage and food were pungent in the sometime dirty alleways. We saw animals in their natural state, rather than the Mc Donald's way of food presentation. It's also a hot spot for games and a little gambling for Chinatown's citizens.

  • Via the Kong Chow Temple we walked to Grant. It was a completely different sight compared to Stockton Street.

On Grant you'll find a lot of souvenirshops and it's definately the "commercial" part of China Town. Althought we liked Stockton Street much more it was still nice to see all the beautiful lanterns and colourfully painted fronts.

You were so smart to do this. I live only one hour from San Francisco and this is my view when I go to Berkeley or Emeryville. It's beautiful and I never take it for granted.
