Ever since 1857 (!) this newspaper has been published. It has always been done by the same producer, C. Pet.

At Wednesday it will be delivered for free to the entire area of Hoogeveen, which means that is has a circulation of 51.000 newspapers. Whenever you have a subscription you'll receive the newspaper also at Monday and Friday. At this time this is done for 10.500 households.

Of course most of the news published is related to the area of Hoogeveen, but national and international news does get its fair share as well.

The Wednesday issue is important for the inhabitants of Hoogeveen, because we will read all about decisions made by local authorities, et cetera.

The "Pullendagen"

On summer Thursdays in the months of July and August, tens of thousands of people come from far and wide to the centre of Hoogeveen, which on those days is turned into one enormous pavement cafe, with cheerful fetes and fairground attractions, music and street theatre.

Everybody is allowed to sell whatever they want on the street in the city centre, which of course attracts a lot of people. At the evenings local bands and sometimes even nationally known artists are performing.
