by GuthrieColin - last update: Mar 31, 2008

Honolulu is the largest city and capital of the state of Hawaii. Oahu boasts about 75% of the population of the entire state and the large majority of that population live in Honolulu.
As far as the islands are concerned Oahu is the 3ird largest at 608 square miles (1,574 sq km) and that accounts for 112 miles (180 km) of coastline with over 130 beaches. The most notable of which would be the 7 mile stretch between Sunset Beach and Hale’iwa considered the Surfing capital of the world.

Very well written & informative page on Honolulu. The tip on water-safety is very handy. And the photos are stunning. Thanks

The petroglyphs are behind a metal cage along the mountain side. When you look into the cage, the petroglyphs are on the right side of the mountain rocks. There's a man and a white dog.
