Kyiv-Pechery Monastery, backed by the Dniepr River

Kyiv is a beautiful city full of amazing churches up to 1000 years old. The Dniepr River cuts a wide swath of blue through the middle of the city - it is full of islands of trees and beaches (no development). I enjoyed this city thoroughly.

  • Pros:fantastic churches, beautiful river, nice beaches
  • Cons:way too many police on the streets; this makes you feel like you're in a corrupt police state
