"Bran Castle" Bran by glenn57

Bran Travel Guide: 101 reviews and 297 photos

Bran Castle stands in a pass in the Transylvanian Alps, where Transylvania meets Wallachia. It was built in the 14th century, to collect tolls on the road between these two areas.

The connection between this castle and Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler, also known as Dracula) is a tenuous one. He was imprisoned here for 2 months in 1462. But it is thought that he likely ruled over this castle when he was governor of Wallachia.
