My year in Norway was about the best of my life. It was the first time I lived abroad and opened up a whole new world to me. For one year I lived with a Norwegian host family, went to a Norwegian school and learned to speak Norwegian like a native. My Norwegian has become a bit rusty but is far from gone.
I was based in Sandnes, in south-western Norway, about twenty minutes or so south of Stavanger. While I liked Sandnes, as a town I liked Stavanger better, and the whole area of Rogaland has a lot things to offer.
