This is me in Valencia, not Atlas (the half-god who carries the planet on his shoulders). I have been there for a week end, and I actually believe that Valencia does not deserve a longer visit. However, I spent a good week end, and I would suggest to go. First of all it is served by many low cost airlines, so it's easy and cheap to plan. Secondly the climate is fantastic. I have been there in deep winter (second half of january) and when I landed I found about 16°, i.e. the typical April temperature in continental Europe. And even the warmness of the light, the smells, were these of the mediterranean spring. Yes, that's the point, you feel such atmosphere which you can find in many sea-places of the area: Barcelona, Genova, Naples, Lecce, Sicily, continental Greece... |
| Ear pain at Turia gardens |
| | My personal suggestion Enjoy the old town as much as you can, and, if you are a jogger, bring with you your Mizuno shoes: Turia Gardens are a paradise for joggers. Walking through the Turia gardens is very relaxing. I did not found it dangerous as I read before leaving. Expecially in the night, you will enjoy foutains and nice buildings illuminated in a very impressive way. |
| The Cathedral in Plaza de la Reina |
| | After you have enjoyed the old town, walking and drinking a couple of Horchata (a couple it's enough, it's nothing special) you can go away. The coastal area (malvarrosa beach) is a very common beach, with no particular panorama. There you can eat a nice paella, though (I wrote a tip on that). The City of Science is nice from outside, inside is disappointing: a place for childrens. It follows that it s visit should not take more than a couple of hours. The Acquarium is nice, if you have not seen any similar. I have visited Genova and Barcellona: maybe Valencia's one is nicer, but it basically is always the same "soup". |

| Pros: | "Relaxing, ideal climate in winter, good for a 2 days stop" | | Cons: | "Not really much to see" | | In A Nutshell: | "It should be a nicer place to live in rather than to be visited" |
