If you are planning a visit to Venice, and your budget is low, Chioggia fits for you.
This is a small town in the middle of the lagoon, suggestive in its unicity, built on small islands and crossed by a couple of channels.
Few things to see, but a very relaxing atmosphere, cheap enough and facing Venice, which is on the opposite river of the lagoon.
You can reach Venice by car, and leave it in one of the big parking at the entrance (but it might cost up to 30 € for one day just for parking), or take a boat. The way by boat is a bit longer (1,0 hr about), then you take a bus which brings you to to Venezia Lido (1 hr more). |
| | Moreover, also the island of the lagoon may be easiky reached from Chioggia (Murano, Burano...).
In a few words, Chioggia matches the suggestion of the lagoon with the good position for visiting the most famous and celebrated places of the area, together with the total absence of confution (very few tourists) and a very cheap accomodation. |
