Getting TO/AROUND: Rome is quite "walkable". I mean, the city has many interisting spots, and between these spots, walking along the small streets is definately beautiful. The streets, the architecture and the smells of the city are quite enjoyable. Don't even think of renting a car, because Rome is not a city for cars. Don't even think of renting a motorcycle, as you probably won't have the guts that romans do to ride them, and don't even think of taking a cab, as they're very expensive for such short rides. So walk. And enjoy.

Getting TO/AROUND: The roman subway is quite basic: it has only 2 lines that cross each other. Now, why's that? Because everytime they dig a hole, they find a roman ruin. Thus, the metro is what it is and it'll be no longer expanded. Although it has only 2 lines, it reaches the most important places in the city. The quickest way to get to the Vatican is by metro. But, you'll miss the beautiful surroundings the city has to offer. So take the metro only if you're in a hurry. And only if you're sick and tired of Rome, which I think you won't.

Getting TO/AROUND: Taxis are very expensive in Rome, considering the short distance they travel. They're much more expensive than in Madrid or Paris, so beware of them. Sometimes it's best to walk if you're in a budget. Also, being Rome such a narrow-street city, taxis often take a long time to reach where you want to go, because they can't go in all of the streets or because the heavy traffic the city has.
