I've been to this city three times.
Once back in 2001, where I went to every tourist attraction there was and visited every single monument and museum that was on the map. And the beach, of course.
The second time (Feb 2006) where I learned to enjoy the beach, party and see with my own eyes what it feels to be carioca.
And this time, my third time, where I went to enjoy the city and everything it's got to offer, but with the right person.
Rio's an amazing city. Starting from the beautiful scenery -the Guanabara bay, the incredible mountains, the islands, the Sugar Loaf, the Corcovado, the beaches- the amazing climate, through one of the most beautiful people I've ever seen on my life, Rio is the place to be in February (and sometimes I think for the rest of the year). Add all this to the joy of Carnaval, where poor and wealthy, black or white, straight or gay are all the same and everyone enjoys with just a little bit of music and a cold caipirinha.
Rio is definately a place to see, a place to feel, a place to taste and a place you'll never forget, since it touches you deep inside and never lets you go.
Once you fall in love with this city, you'll try to come back everytime you can.
Because Rio is not a one-time-city. Is a city to enjoy as many times as you want, for everytime you are in it, you'll forget every problem you have and start enjoying life. Just like the cariocas.
Just as it should be. |
