Always back to my "home country" As you can see, I've done some extensive travelling and there are some smashing places on earth. The plains of the Alentejo in Portugal, the highlands or valleys of Chiapas and Oaxaca, the unbelieveable varieties of Morocco or the mind-blowing beauty of South Africa. But I have never felt home like in Scotland. I travel to Scotland at least once a year since about 16 years now and it has created a bond which is hard to explain. Sorry, once I get started to talk about Scotland.......... |
| Bandit in his rare quiet days ;-) |
Bandit Bandit is my dog and my companion (unfortunatelly not when travelling abroad). Please don't ask what race, I don't know but I'm open for suggestions. Bandit was an abandoned puppy in Rome, Italy. Approximately 8 weeks old she was abandoned together with her 3 brothers. She was taken care of by an animal rights organisation in Rome and when I saw her there I just had to take her with me! |

The Buffalo Theory The Buffalo Theory! In one episode of "Cheers", Cliff is seated at the bar describing the "Buffalo Theory" to his buddy Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this.....) "Well you see, Norm, it's like this....A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cell. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel so much smarter after a few pints! |
My son! One hundred years from now, it will not matter what my bank account was, how big my house was, or what kind of car I drove. But the world may be a little better, because I was important in the life of a child! On 23.03.2005, my son Timm was born. Timm, before you were conceived, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were here an hour, I would die for you - this is the miracle of life! |
Can't wait! I can't wait to show Scotland to my son, but can only hope he will fall in love with it with the same passion I have! Sometimes I am so "homesick" it hurts and I need to close my eyes, imagine the Highlands, smell the heather, think of snow covered peaks of the Bens, sunlit greens of the Glens, the sound of the waves breaking at the shore or the silence of a remote Loch........and then midges attack me and ruin all my reveries! |
