The Termini Area is a very dangerous area, especially for those like me who are not used to beggars in the streets. If you are looking for accommodation in Rome, make sure its not in this area cause it might get rather rough at night. I was there in broad day light and I was still horrified. The place is very dirty, full of beggars, it stinks like rotten fish and it is full of thiefs. A young boy, maybe 10 years of age tried to steal my cousin's bag, so be careful of young children who would be running around alone especially in busses or station areas.

As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day ! and we could not see Rome in a day so as to be able to fit in all of the important sites we left the coliseum for the evening, we were told it would be nicely lit, so after dinner we decided to go take some pictures before we head home... The area was deserted and men in cars stop all the time, we took some pictures and called for a taxi, definetely not a nice area by night... Rome by night (at certain places) should either be seen in a large group or with a local tour!

I agree with only one part of the above, "The food is expensive". My lasagne was cold and tasted like it was a frozen meal, my girlfriends pasta was also dry. The vegetables were around £5 a plate and were dry as a bone! Not recommended. | maltese24 Mon May 15, 2006 11:54 UTC
