Mount Tai Ping Forest Recreation Area is located within the Ilan county and is one of Taiwan's three major forest recreation areas. Standard at the peak of Tai Ping Shan (Mount Peace) is the largest alpine lake on the island, Cui Feng Hu (Jade Peak Lake), which actually receive snow during the winter season!

Before conservation, Tai Ping Shan supported the local logging industry with its valuable collection of trees such as Taiwan Cypress, Taiwan Hemlock, and Japanese Cypress. Thus, a railway track (Peng Peng Che) had been constructed midway across the mountain to aid transportation of the logs.

Top Waterfall of San Du Pu Bu

Now a conserved area, Tai Ping Shan is a popular destination, both for tourist and locals alike. One of the prime tourist spots here is the San Ding Pu Bu (Triple Stacked Waterfalls) which name derives from its triangular structure of the topmost waterfall seemingly supported by 2 lower waterfalls.

Tai Ping Shan is also located near the Ren Ze Hot Springs, in which one of the main attractions for visitors is to boil eggs in the 95C hot water and then eat it!
