Water Water Everywhere...

Eyes wide open

Venice waterways
We arrived in Venice after taking the overnight train from Paris. That was quite an experience. I know I'm a little taller than average, but those beds are the size of a broomstick!

Anyway, after arriving, we immediately went to the Piazza San Marco. What a beautiful day...
Holding our breath

Oh solo trio

One of the things we promised ourselves we'd do (and I'm sure everyone does the same) was take a gondola ride. Yeah, we got ripped off, but we didn't feel like working hard to get a good rate. We were on vaction!

Our guide didn't speak much english, but he sure knew his way around the waterways of Venice. Shame about the smell though. It's not through the entire ride, just certain sections.

One thing that's really cool - to see people dock their boats right at their front doors!
Murano

Like a bull in a China shop

Our last few hours in Venice, we visited the island of Murano. They're famous for their glass making. It's only a 15 minute ride by boat, and our hotel had a free shuttle. We weren't expecting to buy so many goodies, but all the glass was so beautiful.

My advice for Venice - it's a beautiful city to see for a day or two, but it might get old after that. If you go, plan to spend a little time shopping in Murano too. But if you buy too much, send it home. We bought some heavy stuff and had to carry it around for the rest of the trip :)
