| Church on the Spilled Blood, where Alex II died |
Nevskii Prospekt The city's main thoroughfare is exciting for anyone who has a knowledge of Russian history, architecture and literature, but anyone with a sense of aesthetics will enjoy the walk. Just watch out for the bands of aggressive Gypsy children and sneaky Petersburg pickpockets! |
| This is the Eternal Flame. It's not flaming. |
It helps to have a sense of humor. It seems like everything in Russia is under reconstruction right now. In general that's a good thing, because the monuments and buildings you see will probably be beautiful and fresh. However, be prepared for some surprises. |
| The entrance to the Hermitage |
The Hermitage You can't go to St. Petersburg and not see the Hermitage, but bear in mind that the museum is far to big to see in one day. In general, the architecture is more interesting than the exhibits - walk around and take it in, but don't worry if you can't see it all. |

How very sad, I thought... | Janni67 Sat Nov 8, 2003 20:30 UTC I just loved this page! Can't believe what you told about the police if you dare to step on grass.... pheeew! |
