the power of a woman!" Those are the words of Lysistrata, a beautiful young woman of Athens. Written around the year 411 BC during the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta by Aristophanes and staged by the UCF Theatre students, "Lysistrata" was a "huge" surprise!

I was completely unfamiliar with the play, and I have to admit that I had always assumed that Lysistrata was a man. But imagine my surprise to find a completely "titillating" and ribald play about men, war, and women! This script seems as if it were originally written in English, so well has it been translated. You have to listen very carefully, as the script is absolutely packed with jokes. I know I missed hearing many of them, and I'm tempted to read the play to b.... dare I say it? No, I dare not!

We have been patrons of the University of Central Florida Theatre for nearly 15 years and have seen hardly a play that we didn't like. Whether in stitches with laughter or trying not to sniffle or sob too loudly, we have very much appreciated the superb job the faculty and students have done of staging wonderful plays at this small, intimate theater on the campus of the University of Central Florida. And they've been very reasonably priced, too!
