This is one of the beautiful bottle trees at the Parkland. Not being used to seeing trees of this type, I am truly amazed at the wealth of diversity I'm seeing in this amazing continent!
The Roma Street Parkland is a 16-hectare park which is billed as the “world’s largest subtropical garden in a city centre”. It has many unique plant specimens along with the expected park benches and lawns. The views of the city beyond the trees and gardens will leave you awed that you are, indeed, in the middle of the city. There is a showy “Spectacle” Garden, a lakes area, a subtropical rainforest, etc., all of which show off the variety of landscapes seen within Queensland.
The park is free to visit and is open 24 hours.
