El Santuario de Chimayo is an oft visited holy site near Santa Fe. Not only do religious believers flock to Chimayo for the holy curing dirt, but it is also a hotspot for artists. Come to Chimayo to appreciate the details, from the crosses made out of twigs in the lower area to the handwritten notes left inside the Santuario. Also of interest is the town cemetery which is just down the street from el Santuario. |

Chimayoso Fri Feb 22, 2008 15:32 UTC There is no anonymity in Chimayó and even though you may never be aware of it there will always be someone watching you, particularly if you're in the Campo Santo. Just show some respect... that's all. | mtncorg Sun Jan 23, 2005 05:51 UTC While it is true that Chimayo is oft travelled to, it still amazes me how many miss it. Nice tips - the other towns up the valley hold more discoveries. |
