Billie Swamp Safari

This is s great place. Along the Alligator alley you'll find signs for Billie Swamp's Safari, head north. The safari, air boat rides and animals give a side to Florida that you should take the time to see. Aparantly profits go to the Seminole Community.

Plenty of room for more visitors as you can see. There are more huts away from the water.Maybe less mossies here?

Early morning view outside the chickee. Approx 5:30am, needless to say I didn't sleep well- woken by the animals.

Seminole museum

Close by the safari is the Seminole Museum. We really enjoyed this and would recommend a trip. It was a air conditioned, always a bonus. There is a nature trail out the back which was longer than we first thought. I enjoyed it more than wife and daughter. A couple of siminole camps were within the trail. Cannot remember the price but do remember if being reasonable.

Billie swamp

The chickees are the traditional accomodation of the Seminole tribe. They are supposed to be very secure and certainly were secure in a thunderstorm that we had to take refuge from. Woke up to discover buffalo wading through the water outside the chickee. Absolutely brilliant.

Delightful accomodation

At Billie Swamp's safari you can stay the night. This was fantastic. The night time package includes a story telling session and a dusk trip around the safari park which was fabulous as this is when the animals are most active. We has the swamp tour all to ourselves which was a great bonus. The night in the chickee was a great experience especially for city slickers like us. No running water and plenty of insects. We really felt that we got to experience something that very few other people do in Florida.
