I can honestly say that I really hate Belize City! We arrived in the evening after a long journey from Placencia. It was really hard to find a hostel, because everything was full and/or extremely expensive! After about an hour we finally found a nice place with some Indian People (people from India). We went to get some food, but everything was closed at half pas 8 in the evening. Eventually we found a Chinese restaurant wich was ok. When we returned, the lady from our hostel was really worried about us, as the city turned out to be extremely dangerous.
And the city is not only dangerous, but it smells bad due to the harbour and there ar cockroaches and rats EVERYWHERE! So not a place to spend more than a day in!
Ofcourse anywhere else in Belize you will find absolute paradise for sure!
