"The Central Highlands" Central Province by mafi_moya

Central Province Travel Guide: 524 reviews and 1,281 photos

The Central Highlands offer some of the most stunning natural scenery in Sri Lanka (or anywhere else for that matter), and are one of the main areas for tourists. It's a landlocked region of the country so there are no golden beaches or clear blue oceans, but otherwise there is everything that makes Sri Lanka such a fascinating and diverse country.

From the hustle and bustle of historic Kandy, the regional capital, to the quaint colonial hill town of Nuwara Eliya; from the lush green tea plantations and waterfalls near Hatton to the stark, bleak beauty of Horton Plains; from the religious significance of the midnight pilgrimage up Adam's Peak to the baby elephants bathing in the river at Pinnewela... there are so many highlights in the Central Highlands it's impossible to cover them all. Definitely one of my favourite regions in Sri Lanka...
