VT can be a frustrating site sometimes! There I go spending huge amounts of time writing great (I think so anyway!) pages on my favourite countries and cities, but do people look at them? No, at the moment everyone wants to read my Tel Aviv pages. To be honest, in my life at the moment Tel Aviv is the place I go to let my hair down (what's left of it anyway!) Living in Nazareth, the nightlife tends to consist of endless games of backgammon. So every so often I head to the bright lights of Tel Aviv, and so the tips on this page are mostly geared up to fun and nightlife. Apologies to the people who think Tel Aviv has so much more to offer, but to be honest when I'm in the mood for history and architecture I go to Jerusalem :)
If you want culture and mind-blowing history... go to Jerusalem. If you want a laid back, small-town vibe... head for Haifa. But if you want to party the night away and top up your tan then Tel Aviv is the place for you! This is Mediterranean Israel at its brashest, newest, sexiest, sleaziest, most cosmopiltan and most liberal.
It's certainly not an attractive city - think endless grey tower blocks and building sites. And there's not really much to 'see' . But then the city is only really a hundred years old (compared to Jerusalem's thousands) and it's grown with one thing in mind: having fun in the sun! |
| | It's known throughout Israel as the city that never sleeps. Things don't really get going until nearly midnight and even small cafes and bars stay open until 4am. The part of the city that interests most tourists is the miles of golden beaches and blue Mediterranean sea, the bars and nightclubs of Allenby Street and the bright lights and shopping malls of Dizengoff Street. It's the kind of city you'll love or hate. |
