I've always wanted to go to Nepal. Ever since I was a child I dreamed of trekking the Himalayas, conquering Everest and hiking all the way over into Tibet, ideally meeting the Yeti and a few levitating monks on the way. But Kathmandu itself had never really appealed - if I did ever go to Nepal, the capital would simply be my arrival point to spend the least amount of time possible in. So when I had to go to Nepal with work I was excited but disappointed that my experience would be limited to the city. So close yet so far...

As it turned out, Kathmandu was far better than I'd imagined. Starting by descending to the most beautiful air strip I've been to (complete with a view of the Kathmandu Valley), and followed by looking round the incredible temples, sampling the excellent food, and speeding through the backstreets at 5am on the back of a motorbike, I had a great time.
