Only 1+ days tacked onto the front end of a business trip. I arrived on a glorious summer day in July - warm, sunny, sublime. I spent 6 hours walking through the town with no particular aim but to avoid museum lines (til the next morning) and to see the beauty and interesting things the city had to offer. I had been to Amsterdam before, but a long time ago - certainly before the advent of digital cameras and McDonalds in The Netherlands.
I found amusing, charming, surprising things on my six hour walk. A travelog or two of photos will come soon.
Tips will grow as my guilt over all my unwritten tips on Rome allows.
A return trip is called for.

Ladies are way too classy to relieve ourselves on the street! Enjoyed reading about your Amsterdam adventures!
Nice photos in your two travelogues. Too bad your stay was so brief! I spent several days there last May and had a great time cycling all around.
Enjoyed the photo tour of Amsterdam--the urinoir was unique, the flowers lovely and the sights presented nicely, Cristina! You're from my hometown--Regards from Texas
Nice to see a fellow Pittsburgher getting to Amsterdam! I enjoyed your pictures... :)
Well written tips (check out our Schiphol page; some may fit better at that location). Looking forward to more pictures. Business & pleisure; hard to combine, but we all do! PJ
